The Classified Ads, Page 2
More info on finding freebies with classified ads online.

Craigslist.org

Craigslist makes revenue by charging businesses to post job offers. All non-business listings are free. As the classic example of a classified ads website with the necessary level of popularity for tangible freebies, Craigslist.org is consistently in the top 100 most popular websites listed on Alexa.com (a traffic ranking website owned by Amazon).

To get your freebies, go to Craigslist.org > Select your state and city > click "Free" (under "for sale"). When you find something you want, contact the person giving it away. If its still available, go pick it up.

Major Tip: Most items are given away on a first-come-first-served basis. In order to be the first to ask for an item, get instant notification software or service which alerts you when an item has been listed. Its similar to an email client that alerts you when "you've got mail".

More on Craigslist:

eBay Classifieds (formerly Kijiji.com)

eBay classifieds (formerly Kijiji) is eBay's attempt to compete with Craigslist for the online classifieds market. The site has a better design and is more user-friendly than Craigslist. However the battle for website traffic continues.

To get your freebies go to eBayClassifieds.com > select your state and city > click on "free stuff". Local pick-up only. Items are rarely delivered.

Freecycle.org
To get your freebies: Sign up for a Yahoo! account (its free) and join the freecycle groups in your area. Once you join, you can browse the items being given away, or you can request an item. Another user will respond by email if they have the item you need and they're willing to give it to you for free. One of the rules of freecycle is that users cannot charge for the items. Local pick-up only. Items are rarely delivered.

Freecycle is a non-profit organization that was established to connect people who are giving away items with those who need them. The founder saw that too many usable items are thrown away; so he established Freecycle in order to reduce waste. Freecycle uses Yahoo! Groups to establish the network between givers and takers.

See other sites like Freecycle.org.

Major Tip: Get an account with a free photo host so you can put a link to photos in your listings. Freecycle.org doesn't have free photo hosting like other classified sites.

Myspace and Facebook Classifieds
To get your freebies: Become a member of these sites to access their services (membership is free, classified ads services are free).

MySpace and Facebook aren't exactly classified ads sites. They are very popular social networking sites with classified ads services. The popularity of these sites is sometimes enough to produce tangible freebies.

Major Tip: Read how you can earn money with free web pages like MySpace OR check the Top sites Freebies page for more freebies related to these sites.

Gumtree.com (United Kingdom and Other Countries)
To get your freebies: Go to Gumtree.com > click on "freebies" (under "stuff for sale"). Local pick-up only. Items are rarely delivered.

Gumtree is a popular classified ads website for the UK and Ireland. There are sister sites for Poland, South Africa, Asia, Australia and New Zealand. It also has partnerships with other classified ads websites worldwide.

BackPage.com
To get your freebies: Go to BackPage.com > select your location > click on "free". Local pick-up only. Items are rarely delivered.

BackPage is a classified ads website that has gained popularity by forming partnerships with local newspapers.

Local Sites:
Freebie seekers may have more success when using sites which were made specifically for their place of residence. A good example is TwinCitiesFreeMarket.org which was made to serve the Twin Cities Metropolitan Area of Minnesota. Another example is KSL.com. KSL is a local radio station in the Salt Lake City, Utah area, and the station's website has free classified ads. I've heard that these classifieds get more hits than Craigslist in the Utah area, though I haven't been able to verify that fact. See the classified ads directory for more sites in your area.
