Birthday Freebies
As an incentive, many businesses will offer a free birthday gift. On many occasions I've received free food and free movie tickets on my birthday.
Businesses benefit from birthday promotions because the person who receives the gift has a good feeling about the product and the business maintains a loyal customer. The business also positions itself to sell to the birthday person's friends. For example, a local ice cream shop offers you a free ice cream cone with 2 scoops on your birthday. So you go to the shop with three friends to celebrate your birthday. If each of your friends buys an ice cream, then the business was able to draw in 3 other customers by giving you a free gift.
Most major restaurant franchises offer some sort of free food as a birthday gift. Other major retail chains offer products, gift cards, and services as well. For these types of freebies, you can scan through your phone book and make calls, or you can perform a specialized Google search.
For the Google search, pick the chain you're interested in and find their website address. Then, when you know the website address, search for birthday freebies using specific keywords, and give Google a command to only search that website by typing "site:www.nameofthewebsite.com"
For example, lets say you want free ice cream on your birthday, and you like Baskin-Robbins. You discover that the website for Baskin-Robbins is www.baskinrobbins.com.
Then you'd type in the following in Google's search:
"birthday club site:www.baskinrobbins.com"
By doing this you should be able to find the Baskin-Robbins birthday club, and you'll discover that you can get a free 2.5 oz. scoop of ice cream on your birthday.
Some keywords you can use are birthday, birthday club, birthday gift, birthday treat, birthday prize, free birthday, birthday freebie, birthday give away, etc.
National chains and franchises aren't the only business that offer free birthday gifts. Local "mom and pop" stores offer these incentives as well. If the Google search method above doesn't work, if the store doesn't have a website, or if you simply want to try something different, just look up the business in the Yellow Pages and give them a call. If they offer a free birthday gift then they'll probably be willing to tell you over the phone.
