The following is a list of ideas for getting free entertainment:
Find free movies, TV, games, radio and lots of funny websites on the internet.
Check the websites of local theaters, museums, zoos, art galleries, planetariums, churches, etc. for free events.
Check with a local university for free science exhibits, free museums, free art galleries, free sports events, free lectures and free drama and performing arts shows.
Check with the local high schools for the same events mentioned with local universities above.
Check with your city, county and state websites and local publications for free local events, especially on holidays celebrating history.
Check tourism websites for your city. Search Google for "tourism" and enter your city.
Open mic nights at karaokee bars and coffee shops
Many major cities (espeically New York, LA, and others with large populations) will have street performers that you can observe for free. (Although it may be nice to give them something since they are trying to make a living).
Go to a pet store to observe the animals
Live bands at book stores and coffee shops
volunteer to usher at theaters to see (most or all of) the show for free.
Memorize the numbers of local radio stations and be ready to call in the morning when they offer free concert tickets.
Find contests to enter using Google blog search.
Find free literary readings at the local bookstore
The library has free books, movies and music
Join a local book club
Go to a film festival. Some shows charge for admission but other shows are free.
Hang out outside a sports event or concert, sometimes people have extra tickets that they give away for free.

- Become a film critic by writing for a small paper or website. This may also give you press access.
- Get a job at a movie theater. They often give their employees free movie passes.
