Sorely missed Yahoo! services!

The following services were once offered by Yahoo! but have been discontinued. It was sure great while it lasted!

Yahoo! Auctions

Yahoo! Auctions was the absolute free competitor to eBay. No other site that could compete with eBay in popularity offers free auctions services like Yahoo! did. There are probably a number of reasons why Yahoo! removed this service. One, an auctions site is probably one of the more difficult types of sites to maintain. Two, Yahoo! has develped other paid services such as the ones listed on the Small Business page that they would like to promote more. And three, since Yahoo! uses PayPal for a number of services, and since eBay owns PayPal, they probably made some kind of deal so that Yahoo! wasn't competing with eBay.

For Sale and Pets sections in Yahoo! Classifieds

Again, Yahoo! has other services they were probably trying to promote. They've expanded Jobs, Autos, etc. into individual pages and they also have the Yahoo! Directory.

Yahoo! is, above all, a search engine. If you really want free stuff, search for "free stuff" and see what comes up. You'll have to wade through a lot of junk and scams though. If you search for a free specific item, instead of "stuff", you might have a little more success.
